Last 2 Days of School

Day #1 - It all started on a blustery Wednesday. Megan and Haley had their year end "Splash" party at the now closed Sunnybrook Preschool. (We are very sad to see it end.) Although the wind gusts blew towels, pizza and a few small children all over the yard, we had a blast. Megan and Haley actually even participated, given most of their fun happened before we got there to play with them. Nathan and Kate came in like they owned the place, no reservations at all. Even when the bigger boys started to dominate the water slide, Nathan and Kate held their own and pushed their way to the top, literally! By then end of a very windy hour, everyone was wet through and covered in grass - Ms. Shari's husband tried to help out and mowed the lawn just before we got there - we give him and "A" for effort. All in all it was a very fun morning - not to mention everyone fell asleep that afternoon giving mommy some nice alone time.

Day #2 - Ahh! The blessed last day of school! Daddy stayed home that morning for Megan and Haley's "Preschool Graduation" and the extra treat was that he got to take everyone to school - including Paige! Then that morning we got to go back to our beloved Sunnybrook Preschool and watch all the other children in Megan and Haley's class graduate. Megan, although, she sat with her class, when it came time for her to recieve her certificate, refused to participate. Haley on the other hand began crying as soon as the procession began and wouldn't even sit with her class for the whole production. The two of them wouldn't even sing with thier class at the end and pictures with their teachers were practically non-existant! Yeah for us! Sorry Daddy, you took the morning off for other children, and sorry Wendy, you had to live through our fiasco! The girls did get excited for the treats at the end as did Cole, Kate and Nathan and we were the last to leave because they were enjoying their treats so much! What a day!

Now for Paige! She didn't want to feel left out of the festivities of having parents at school the last day - so Wendy graciously took Megan, Haley and Nathan home with her while I went to Paige's school for the last 1/2 hour of school. I walked into a classroom of chaos but Paige was excited to see me. True to form however, no pictures were taken. That would have been too much. Whe wouldn't let me take a picture of her with her friends or even her teacher! The best I could get was a blurred far away shot!

The highlight of the day was when school was finally over the heavens opened and let out the rain! And man did it rain! Trying to get all the children to the car was a joke. We were wetter trying to get out of school than we were the day before at the water party! In a matter of 5 minutes, the parking lot was flooded and so was the street getting out of school. And the temperature had dropped from a nice 75 degrees to a chilly wet 58 degrees. Yeah last day of school! Oh well, I guess it won't be hard to remember this last day. All in all, Paige completed 1st grade with high marks and we are onto 2nd grade come August 6th!

We finished the night off at Paige's favorite place to eat - Red Robbin and dessert at the once again open Krispy Kremes. Thanks Wendy, Cole and Kate for joining us - you make all the more fun! Enjoy the pictures of our very wet last 2 days of school!
