Tonight we finished dinner quickly and took the gang on a field trip. I highly recommend it.
Some interesting facts that we found out were:
1. There will be parking for 700!!!
2. All the electrical and plumbing for the temple are in a separate building on site connected to the temple by an underground tunnel. This is so the maintenance workers don't have to change clothes to work in the temple and on the equipment.
3. They are building a flat roofed regular sized church building on the site.
4. On the north side of the temple there will be a circular garden the size of 1/2 a football field.
5. Brides have their own door to exit out of the temple to another garden on the south side, complete with a water fountain.
I think I was more fascinated than the children. The only exciting part for them was realizing that the Angel Moroni will sit as high as the crane that is on site right now.
As we drove away, we all decided to come back each month to see the progress (behind the fences). I was told that there wasn't supposed to be a visitor center at all. I am so glad they changed their minds.

That is so cool Thanks for sharing I just may have to take the kids over there.
I didn't know either...there is our next FHE for a couple years or so (and there is a Sonic not too far for dessert)! Thanks for sharing.
SOOO Cool!!! How lucky are you guys to have a temple so close and to be able to watch it from start to finish. Can't wait to come and see it ourselves!
I didn't know about this either. Thanks for the tip!
I can't wait. We will be doing that too. Great idea!
I love how you keep us in the loop even though we are so far away. I am jealous that you get to have that experience that we don't. So close and so far away. We'll have to make it back for the dedication and open house!
So terrific! We are doing this for sure!
Thanks for the tip!
