This year, courtesy of Pinterest, we did a new kind of advent calendar for the month. Each year I complain on Christmas Eve that it was so crazy we didn't get to do anything to get ready for Christmas. Thus, the start of the Christmas Bucket 24 day countdown. Each day we opened a small gift or envelope with an activity to do that particular day.
We saw a new parade.
Went to the School Christmas Concert.
Attended the Ward Christmas Party. Megan was part of the Nativity! My first little actress!
Decorated a gingerbread train. Just so you know, houses are much easier!
Visited Temple Square (on the first Monday in December...It was dead! Perfect time to go!)
We also opened a new Christmas book, a new Christmas CD (Glee Cast Christmas - I highly recommend!), and a new Christmas Movie.
Some other activities included having a Christmas movie, movie night, driving the neighborhood to see lights, Christmas game night, taking Christmas pictures, special family home evenings, making teacher gifts, and sleeping by the tree lights.
A few things had to be exchanged with other activities due to illness and weather, but we made sure we did something together. While some of them were very simple, we spent a little time each day, as a family, preparing for the big day and celebrating the whole season. I loved it. Now that we've gotten the hang of it, next year I would like to do a few more service things too. More planning, but well worth it! Merry Christmas everyone!

I've wanted to ask you how that was working out. Sounds like you guys had a blast. I need to channel your "good mothering" more. I'm too lazy! :)
Hope you guys have a super Merry Christmas! Hugs to the sweet Grays!
This sounds like a great idea. I will try to remember it for next year. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
So Fun! Just bummed we weren't there to be a part of it! Next year, my friend, next year!
