But before I begin: a few more February exciting happenings!
Nate and Jeff got a special invitation from Jared and Cole to go to a Phoenix Suns basketball game. They were allowed on the floor to shoot and sat practically ON THE FLOOR! Nathan was in HEAVEN!!!! It was a late night for the boys, but Nathan was all smiles and excitement the next morning when he related his experience to me. The only part he didn't particularly like was the train right into Phoenix and the fact that they just barely missed the one coming back and had to wait an extra 20 minutes to catch the next one. However, the reason for missing the train was because they were the. last. ones. on. the. floor shooting!! Good reason, no?!
A view from their VIP seats.
We also had the school's one and only fundraiser for the year, the carnival. This year, as part of the committee, I was in charge of the feeding the crowd. In preparation for that I graciously showed someone helping what NOT to do when slicing onions!
16 stitches later and one giant purple bandage (plus some serious pain killers!) We were back in business and my children had a hay day running free for 6 hours while I feed and Jeff cooked for the masses. This seems to be the trend for the carnival lately. Maybe next year I hire someone to take pictures of my children running like orphans around the school yard!
And lastly in February, the Pinewood Derby and the Blue and Gold banquet for scouts. A first for both for us. Jeff and Nathan spent two weekends and a few weeknights perfecting Nathan's car for the Derby. With a lot of help from seasoned racers, car was ready to race and did well. It was an amazing night an the boys had a blast!
The leaders did an amazing job and the boys and the spectators had a great night.
Blue and Gold was next. Little did I know that the boys and their dads were supposed to bring a decorated cake...last minute Lucy showed up and whipped these out...Jeff and Nate did an amazing job, yes?
It was a western theme and the boys entertained us with a dance and then fed us an amazing dinner. Nathan is really enjoying this scouting thing.
At the end of the night, a few dads were chosen to participate in a pie-in-cake eating contest. Of course Jeff got chosen...are they really using forks? Did they not understand the rules? Crazy men. In their defense they were forced to eat a Cherpumple cake. Three layers of cake with pies baked into each layer! I'm a little sick just thinking about it. Just look at some of those faces! What great leaders AND dads these boys have.
I promise, March is coming...in like a Lion too!
