Skip Counting

Prior to our enrollment at Benjamin Franklin Charter School, I always thought that skip counting was counting while skipping. (Not an easy task by the way.  Go on, try it, I dare you!)  Actually, skip counting is the best way to prepare kids to multiply. For instance skip counting by 2's...2,4,6,8, etc. You get the idea.  Each morning, at said school, the students are lead in the pledge and skip counting by a few of their fellow classmates. (I'm dragging this post out way too much.)  Nathan and a couple classmates were selected this day.  Nate was to lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence and then skip counting by 12's!  He was brilliant, calm, and confident.  I was amazed.  His best buddy had 11's and then 10's backwards! What these kiddos learn at such an early age, truly amazing.
Aren't they a good looking bunch of kids...smart looking too!
